Description

Inflammation of the walls of the blood vessel causes Vasculitis. Large vessel vasculitis is characterised by occlusion of large vessels in our body leading to leg pain and hand pain on walking, jaw pain after eating, giddiness, loss of consciousness, recurrent stroke and severe headache. Examples include Giant cell arteritis and Takayasu Aryeritis. Medium vessel vasculitis is characterised by occlusion of medium vessels, leading to high blood pressure, non healing ulcers, kidney failure, cardiac failure, darkening of digits, painful nodules over the skin and selective loss of sensation over the hands and foot. Examples include Polyarteritis Nodosa and Kawasaki disease. Small vessel is characterised by reddish spots and multi-organ failure due to inflammation of smaller blood vessels. Examples include cryoglobulinemic vasculitis, Henoch Schonlein purpura and ANCA vasculitis.
